Jamie Bush went into the insurance business in 1978 after graduating from college with a history degree. In time, he thought, he might run for office. But finding more opportunities to serve people than he'd initially imagined, in 1982 he created Bush & Company, as a multi-purpose advisory company acting as a broker of individual and group insurance, pension and profit-sharing plans, and employee benefits.

In 2015, Jamie was joined by his partner, Drake Richey, who had spent 8 years in New York at Fitch Ratings and Wells Fargo. Drake's mission was to grow the company to serve more people and businesses as well as the second and third generations of existing clients. In addition, with Drake the firm expanded its financial planning and investment management service offerings.

From the outset, the firm has focused on providing client-centric holistic counsel to successful individuals, families, and closely held businesses. With a long history of service to clients and the Boston community at large, and the perspective of two generations, we've seen and learned from a lot of successes and failures. We find our purpose, individually and corporately, in helping people think about what they should be thinking about.

James L. Bush

Principal

Jamie was privileged to grow up as a member of one of America's pre-eminent families. Since coming to Boston in 1973, he has spent much of his non-professional time serving the poor, involved in state and local politics and on various non-profit boards. As a result, he understands that people from diverse backgrounds have more in common than not and can achieve great things by working together. He graduated from Boston College, where he met his wife Sue, and has designations from the American College of Financial Services focusing on special needs, family businesses, retirement planning, and life insurance. He is a Registered Investment Advisor and holds Series 6 and 63. He has no plans to retire, but loves spending time on the water or the tennis court with his son and daughter and their families in Virginia and Boston.
